Welcome to Rome isn't just a typical museum—it's more of an immersive exhibition that offers a unique way to learn about history interactively. The centrepiece is a 30-minute movie projected onto a detailed topographical model of Rome, which doesn't just provide historical information; it draws you into the story of the city. Watching this, I felt deeply connected to Rome's past, realizing that it was once the heart of the world, a place of incredible beauty where people through the ages tried to create something eternal. Yet, the film also reminded me of the inevitable passage of time, showing how those grand ambitions have faded, leaving behind only remnants of a once-glorious civilisation. I found myself almost in tears, moved by the contrast between the city's former splendor and its present state—a powerful reflection on the transient nature of human efforts. We spent about an hour exploring the entire exhibition, which also includes smaller 3D displays of key sites like St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s Square, the Roman Forum, and more. My 8-year-old was thoroughly engaged by the main movie, although he started to lose interest in the smaller exhibits. The staff were exceptionally friendly and even allowed us to enter early since we arrived ahead of schedule. This experience is ideal for first-time visitors to Rome, and I highly recommend planning your next days around visiting the places highlighted in the exhibition. The knowledge you gain here will enhance your understanding of the city and its rich history. While the ticket price is a bit high, the learning experience is worth it, leaving you with a deeper appreciation for the fleeting nature of human endeavors.
